Elopement

An elopement is a special route to reach an engagement or a marriage. The goal of an elopement is to force the relatives of a girl or a woman to agree to a marriage. The man in question often has earlier been rejected or his marriage proposals are (justly or unjustly) deemed hopeless.

Following this chart it becomes clear which stages an elopement takes and in which situations things can get out of hand.
